Our research project FELIKS is featured in the annual report of the Bavarian research foundation. The complete report is available here. The goal of our R&D-Projekt FELIKS is the development of a 3-D simulation tool for prospective novel battery concepts with solid electrolytes. In collaboration with the BMW AG and the Technical University Munich a novel predictive computational model is designed and implemented. In contrast to currently existing simulation technology, which is typically based on various simplifying assumptions, this project provides realistic representations of all relevant physical and chemical processes occurring in solid-state batteries. In particular, the two-way coupling of structural mechanics and electrochemistry within the cell is taken into account, including 3-D electrode structures. Further details on the project can be found here.
